Chelsea FC manager Liam Rosenior has called on his players to “forget the noise” after a damaging 3-0 defeat to Everton FC extended the club’s losing streak to four matches across all competitions.
The latest setback, suffered at Hill Dickinson Stadium, further dents Chelsea’s hopes of securing a top-five finish and qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Season Unravelling
Chelsea’s recent form has been marked by a string of heavy defeats. Over the past 11 days, the Blues were eliminated from Europe following an 8-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain, before suffering a home defeat to Newcastle United and now a comprehensive loss to Everton.
Despite favorable results elsewhere Manchester United drawing and Liverpool FC losing earlier in the weekend Chelsea failed to capitalize on an opportunity to climb into the top four.
Clinical Everton Punish Chelsea
Everton delivered an efficient attacking performance, with Beto scoring twice and Iliman Ndiaye adding a decisive third with a curling effort that put the result beyond doubt.
The defeat leaves Chelsea sixth in the table, one point behind Liverpool, with seven games remaining in the campaign. The top five positions are widely expected to secure Champions League qualification this season due to strong performances by English clubs in European competitions.
Rosenior Calls for Reset
Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca in January, acknowledged the mounting criticism but emphasized the need for composure and focus.
“There’s been a lot of noise, a lot of negative noise rightfully so about our performances,” he said. “But we have to keep our confidence and composure.”
The former RC Strasbourg Alsace head coach pointed to his record since taking over, noting that Chelsea have collected 17 points from 10 league matches under his tenure a return he believes reflects underlying progress.
He added that the international break could provide a timely opportunity for the squad to regroup ahead of a decisive run-in.
Crucial Weeks Ahead
With domestic and European ambitions hanging in the balance, Chelsea now face a critical stretch of fixtures that will define their season. Failure to regain form could see the club miss out on Champions League qualification, a scenario that would intensify scrutiny on both the squad and its relatively new manager.
