An 80-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by his son-in-law on Tuesday night following a domestic disagreement in Kogola village, Ndhiwa Sub-County, Homa Bay County.

The deceased, identified as Clemtent Ongoro Kotonge, was reportedly attacked at his home after refusing to mediate between his son-in-law and his estranged wife. The suspect had gone to Kotonge’s home seeking reconciliation talks, but when the request was declined, he allegedly turned violent and used an axe to fatally assault him.
According to Area Chief Alphonse Odero, the suspect also demanded to take his children, but the family declined, further escalating tensions.
Police Response
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the incident. Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Manyatta Kobodo morgue in Ndhiwa Sub-County for preservation.
