Nairobi, Kenya – Hundreds of students who excelled in the 2025 KCSE examinations have every reason to celebrate after the Equity Group Foundation, through its flagship Equity Leadership Program (ELP), selected top performers from every county for a transformative leadership and scholarship initiative.
The beneficiaries will undergo specialized training in Nairobi focused on leadership, integrity, personal development, and community service, alongside scholarship support and internship opportunities with Equity Bank.
A Platform for Purpose-Driven Leadership
For over two decades, the Equity Leadership Program has provided high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds with opportunities to nurture their academic excellence into purpose-driven leadership.
In Kisii County, 14 students who scored grade A expressed joy and gratitude after securing the rare opportunity.
“I’m happy to join the Equity internship program. I believe through this program it will help so many of us,” said Theresa Kerubo, beneficiary, Kisii.
“This is a very transformative agenda in line with our vision to transform lives,” added Nicholas Owuor, representing the Equity Bank Manager, Kisii.
In Machakos County, 20 students were selected to join their peers in Nairobi for the leadership boot camp, where they will receive mentorship, career guidance, and practical work experience.
“This program has given me hope and motivation to pursue my dream,” said Joseph Mbithi, beneficiary, Machakos.
“Mpango huu utanifaa zaidi, especially professional growth as I aspire to become a cardiologist,” said Patience Ndunge, beneficiary, Machakos.
A similar scene unfolded in Migori County, where 16 students secured their places under the prestigious program.
Beyond Financial Support
Program coordinators emphasized that the Equity Leadership Program goes beyond scholarships, aiming to prepare youth for the world of work, responsible citizenship, and real-life challenges facing young people in Kenya today.
Established in 1998, the program has produced leaders across various sectors, making it one of the most impactful youth empowerment initiatives in the country.
Conclusion
By combining financial aid with mentorship, training, and internship opportunities, the Equity Leadership Program continues to transform the lives of Kenya’s brightest students. For the 2025 KCSE top performers, the initiative offers not just academic support, but a pathway to leadership, service, and national impact.
