Police in Kigumo, Murang’a County, are holding four suspects in connection with the shocking murder of a woman whose body was discovered wrapped in blankets and hidden inside a bag on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

According to Deputy Police Commander Hassan Bashir, those under custody include the woman’s husband, her two sons, and a taxi driver. The disturbing incident has left residents of Kangari town and its surroundings in shock.

Authorities reported that the body was disguised as heavy luggage and handed over to a taxi driver under the pretense of delivering it to Kangari town. The driver, suspecting nothing, accepted the parcel but later grew uneasy after failing to find the intended recipient. Acting responsibly, he presented the bag to the Kangari Police Station, where officers discovered the body concealed inside.

Swift investigations led to the immediate arrest of the four suspects, who are now assisting detectives in piecing together the events leading to the killing. Commander Bashir urged members of the public with information about the case to come forward, assuring that no effort will be spared in ensuring justice.

Separately, two people were killed in a gun attack in Kainuk on the same day, further compounding public concern over rising insecurity in the region.

Authorities have pledged to leave “no stone unturned” as they work to uncover the truth behind the Murang’a murder and hold all those responsible accountable.
