ODM Party National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has reaffirmed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains strong and united despite the passing of its long-time leader, Raila Odinga.

Speaking during the World Food Day celebrations at Kendu Bay Showground, Wanga emphasized that the party would not collapse but continue advancing Odinga’s legacy of unity, democracy, and progress.

“ODM will remain united and move forward together as one team,” said Wanga.

The Homa Bay Governor announced that ODM will proceed with its planned 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, as earlier scheduled, underscoring the party’s resilience and commitment to continuity.

She further urged ODM members to leverage the party’s strength and influence to negotiate for strategic political alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.

Honouring Leadership and Legacy

Wanga also acknowledged Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, who has been appointed as the acting party leader, noting that he would guide the ODM family during this transitional period.

In honour of Odinga’s memory, Wanga revealed that ODM members in Homa Bay County will hold a memorial service next week at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay Town.

Her remarks come shortly after the ODM Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting, where Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna reiterated the party’s commitment to Odinga’s vision of a unified nation and constructive engagement with the government.

Sifuna also confirmed that memorial services will be held across various regions of the country to celebrate the life and legacy of the late party leader.

The national memorials will begin in Magarini, Kilifi County, on November 2–3, followed by events in Homa Bay and Migori Counties on November 5–6.

He added that the ODM 20th Anniversary Celebrations will continue from November 14–16, featuring activities focused on strengthening party unity and solidarity.
