Nairobi, Kenya — Social media personality Nasra Yusuf has opened up about the risks she faced while attempting an extreme diet, highlighting how drastic restrictions can take a toll on both physical and mental well-being.
Speaking on Saturday, January 10, 2025, Nasra revealed that she eliminated a wide range of foods from her diet, including rice, chapati, mandazi, sugar, pasta, and bread. “I stopped eating so many things like rice, chapo, mandazi, sugar, pasta, bread, etc., and hata before I never had many food options, so nikitoa hizo, sina food hata,” she explained.
Her diet largely consisted of eggs, meat, and water, with very little variety. “Nikakuwa tu nakula eggs na nyama na maji. Jana nikakula sweet potato na no sugar tea,” she added.
Health and Daily Life Impact
Nasra described how the extreme diet left her feeling weak and unable to carry out simple daily activities. “Leo karibu niconnect na wifi ya sayuni,” she joked, illustrating how even basic tasks became challenging due to low energy.
Meal preparation also became difficult, and she relied on her aunty for help. “Nikaambia aunty anipikie. Kidogo kidogo anaweka nyanya kwa nyama direct, like bila kuboil nyama ati aanze kukaranga tu kidogo kidogo anapika mchele na maji baridi weuh,” she recounted.
A Cautionary Tale
Through her experience, Nasra warns others against following extreme diet trends without professional guidance. “Wasee karibu dieting iniue,” she said, urging people to prioritise health over rapid weight loss.
She recommends eating small portions and simple meals as a safer approach to maintaining health, emphasizing that no diet is worth risking one’s life. By sharing her story, Nasra hopes to encourage others to approach dieting responsibly and focus on balanced nutrition.
Nasra Yusuf’s journey is a reminder that health and well-being should always come first. Her candid reflections serve as a warning against the dangers of restrictive diets and highlight the importance of sustainable, nutritious eating habits.
