American businessman Bill Gates is in Kenya and is expected to hold a series of public engagements.

The Microsoft founder is set to meet government officials and other stakeholders in the private sector.

Gates will tour Makueni County and will be hosted by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.

Reports indicate that he will visit the Makueni Mother and Child hospital and Kathonzweni Health Centre.

He will also visit national and local leaders, partners, and grantees and also meet with regional scientists and innovators.

Gates will announce Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's commitment to supporting new innovations and ingenuity aimed at improving health, food security, and gender equality in African countries.

Together with the foundation leaders, they will visit and learn from farmers who are using digital tools to help with climate adaptation, see how primary health care clinics have delivered care during the pandemic and helped address ongoing threats like HIV, TB, and malaria.

Gates will also participate in a conversation with university students, to learn and share perspectives on how innovative tools and approaches can bolster efforts to increase food security and support climate adaptation across Africa.

The founder of Bill and Melinda Foundation last visited the country in 2016 and appraised innovations by young Kenyans.
