Police in Bomet have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly sodomized a drunk man when he locked him up in his house for over 10 hours in Mosonik village of Kyogong location, Chepalungu constituency.

According to a communiqué from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, the suspect identified as Silas is said to have accosted the man who had walked out of a local pub, where he was merry-making with his friends, to answer a nature call.

Silas is then said to have waited for the 33-year-old victim to stagger back into the pub when he approached him and led him to his house not far from the premise.

"As the man staggered back to the local, he was accosted by the suspect who instead led him to his house approximately 200 metres away," wrote DCI on Twitter.

Attempts to raise an alarm by the victim did not bear any fruit as loud music from the pub muted his yelps.

"Efforts by the victim to raise alarm as he was led by Silas to his chambers were unsuccessful, as his incoherent screams were drowned by the loud stereo in the pub playing local popular hit song ‘Gloria’ as the rest of the equally inebriated revelers slurred and danced along," said DCI.

The suspect is said to have held the victim until Tuesday afternoon when a passerby heard a commotion coming from the house and came to the aid of the victim.

The victim was then rushed to Longisa county and referral hospital for treatment and the relevant tests conducted

Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend the suspect, who is still at large, are underway.
