According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, a Los Angeles jury on Friday convicted rapper and musician Tory Lanez guilty of three felonies linked to the July 2020 shooting death of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the Hollywood Hills.

According to the prosecution, Lanez had entered a not-guilty plea to charges of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, transportation of a loaded, unregistered firearm, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence.

He was found guilty on all three charges by the jury.

After a disagreement, Megan got out of the car they were travelling in and claimed Lanez shot her in the foot.

According to Megan's evidence during the trial, Kelsey Harris, her former friend and assistant, and Lanez were tense with one another in the car, according to Billboard Magazine. According to the artist's testimony, Lanez wanted her to tell Harris the truth about their personal relationship. However, according to Billboard, Megan felt awkward doing so because she was aware that Harris had a thing on the Canadian rapper and singer.

Megan said that Lanez shot her after she got out of the vehicle.

She emotionally testified to Billboard, "I started walking away and I hear Tory say, "Dance, b***h." "I halted. I was only shocked. I was wounded. I saw all of this blood as I looked down at my feet.

Following the decision, LA County DA George Gascón stated in a statement to CNN that Megan "showed remarkable courage and vulnerability" throughout her testimony "despite repeated and horrific attacks."

Regarding Megan, he remarked, "You suffered unwarranted and disgusting scrutiny that no woman should ever have to face and you have been an example to people around LA County and the nation."

"Because they are frequently disbelieved, women, especially Black women, are reluctant to disclose crimes like assault and sexual abuse. For the second time this month, a trial has brought to light the many ways in which society still has to improve its treatment of women, said Gascón, who was referring to Harvey Weinstein, who was found guilty on Monday of three out of seven accusations.

The jurors were also commended for "their time and thorough deliberation," he said.

During the nine-day trial, Lanez did not take the witness stand to defend himself.

The five men and seven women on the panel started deliberations on Thursday, and they came to a decision on Friday afternoon.

After the verdict was announced, Lanez was led out the courthouse by bailiffs while being restrained, according to CNN affiliate KCBS. He might get a term of up to 22 years in jail and be deported to his native Canada.
