Prior to each game in the forthcoming round of games, Pele will be honored at top-flight football matches in England, Spain, Italy, and France, it was announced Friday.

A statement from the English Premier League's Twitter account read, "Premier League teams will honour Pele's contribution to football by conducting a minute's applause before to kick-offs."

"Black armbands will be worn by players and match officials."

The Italian Football Federation made a similar statement (FIGC).

On Wednesday, when Serie A play resumes following the holiday break, a moment of silence will be held in honor of the late Brazilian icon.

Ligue 1 matches in France will begin with a minute of applause while a picture of Pele holding the World Cup is displayed on the stadium's big screens.

This weekend, before each game in Spain, a minute of silence will be held, according to La Liga.

Pele, the three-time World Cup champion and generally recognized as the greatest player of all time, passed away on Thursday at the age of 82. On Friday, Brazil began three days of national mourning.

After "O Rei" (The King) passed away, tributes to the man who both improved and transcended football began to pour in from all over the world.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, stated on Friday that Pele's impact on football will be "forever."

The deepest sympathies to his family and friends from Manchester City, Guardiola told reporters.

"These folks make football what it is today.

The statement made by Neymar that "before (Pele), number 10 was only a number and after it became something unique" was excellent.

Antonio Conte, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, claimed he had been aware of Pele's talent at a young age.

He remarked, "My father was the first to talk to me about Pele. "My father frequently talked about Pele because, in his opinion, he was the finest player in the world.

"I then watched some of his games, notably the World Cup final, and in certain cases, what he accomplished with the ball was amazing. These are the recollections.

Pele faced up against Cliff Jones, a former Spurs great, when Brazil won the 1958 World Cup and he first appeared on the international scene.

The winger played for Wales, who lost 1-0 to Brazil in the quarterfinals. Pele scored the game's only goal, making history by becoming the World Cup's youngest scorer at the age of 17 years and 239 days.

Pele, who was practically unknown to European football when he arrived in Sweden in an era before social media, went on to contribute six goals to Brazil's historic World Cup victory.

"Pele? We had never heard of Pele, Jones recently admitted to the Daily Mail.

"I recall him taking up the ball in his own half, eluding three Welsh players, and slamming it toward the goal.

"We're all gazing at each other in confusion as Jack Kelsey had to tip it over the bar. Identify him.

No one had heard of him, but I had a feeling they would.
