Baktash Akasha's son arrested over robbery incident in Nyali

In Nyali, Mombasa County, a son of one of the Akasha brothers was detained on suspicion of robbery with violence.

 

Police reported that while Akasha Baktash, 22, was apprehended on Saturday, two other guys in his group managed to avoid being apprehended by the patrolling cops.

 

According to a police report obtained by Nation.Africa, Mr. Derrick Gikanga approached cops who were on duty behind Nyali City Mall.

According to a police report, "the 24-year-old who was wearing a ripped shirt stated that on the day before (Friday) approximately 7.30pm within the Tudor neighborhood, he was abducted by a three-man-gang who were carrying knives."

 

Mr. Gikanga said that after being dragged into a car, he was assaulted, robbed of his Camon 19 Pro mobile phone valued Sh41,000, and given Sh3,000 in cash.

 

The complaint stated, "He was made to submit his M-Pesa pin and then they abandoned him at First Avenue within Nyali area.

 

Mr. Baktash was arrested as he and two other unnamed individuals were inside a parked Nissan AD Wingroad with the license plate KDE 348 K near Nyali's first avenue.

 

Under OB number 14/06/01/2023, the identical car is mentioned in a police complaint about allegations of robbery with force.

 

"A automobile was parked on the side of the road when police officers saw it. The report stated that as police officers approached the claimed automobile, its occupants drove off in defiance of demands to halt.

 

They were blocked after a brief game of cat and mouse.

 

"Three males got off and made their way to a neighboring thicket on foot. In the process, one suspect, namely Akasha Baktash, was arrested,” the report states.
