
Tommy Lee Sparta, a dancehall performer, has been released from prison.
The musician, whose actual name is Leroy Russell, is said to have been freed from the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
According to a source close to the artist, he was freed early for good behaviour.
Tommy Lee was sentenced to three years in jail in March 2021 after being convicted of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
On December 14, 2020, the entertainer was apprehended after a car in which he was travelling was detained by personnel of the Jamaica Police Force's Specialised Operations.
A 9mm Glock pistol with an extended magazine holding 18 ammunition rounds was discovered in the dancehall artiste's waistband after the men in the vehicle were searched.
Tommy Lee entered a guilty plea to the charges.
