ICT CS Owalo says yet to receive official notice on Chiloba's suspension

IT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo said he is yet to receive official information about the suspension of Ezra Chiloba as chief executive officer of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

 

 Speaking in Mombasa, Owalo expressed  surprise at the suspension and clarified the lack of official communication on the matter.

 

 However, the SC noted the government's procedures in handling  such matters, saying: "This did not happen in my office. As for my office, I will handle it. On arrival Then let's cross the bridge." We will process it as soon as it reaches my office.”

 

 “There are procedures in government,” he added. The management of competent agencies is managed within the scope of their authority; Control of institutions is exercised at the level of government administration.”

 

 Owalo, however, reiterated that matters related to government administration would be handled internally within the respective agencies.

 

 Chiloba's surprise suspension was announced by the Kenya Communications Authority board on Monday night, with details later revealing that he had been sent home for alleged abuse of the program. challenge.

 

 The board, which held its meeting on Monday, suspended Chiloba for, among other reasons, a conflict of interest when he applied for and self-approved a mortgage loan to facilitate beneficial for purchasing real estate without submitting transaction details for questioning. and approved by superiors. The 7-acre property purchased for Ksh 25 million went against the one acre limit approved for the project and a loan of Ksh 25 million was further  disbursed to the seller, Kitale Hilmost Limited, who established a society of which  Chiloba was the only one. sole shareholder and  director.

 

 The former IEBC CEO was also accused of allowing employees to depart without considering their debts as it emerged that the former employees owed more than Ksh28 million on now-defaulted mortgages debt and is also attracting over a million shillings in interest.
