20/11/2023 18:58 in National News

President William Ruto said Kenya wants to strengthen relations and speed up the conclusion of a labour agreement with Germany to boost labour mobility.

Ruto said the organised tour would stop illegal migration, adding that it would also give Kenyans the opportunity to work in Germany. The President said this on Monday during a meeting with German President Olaf Scholz at the G20 Africa Investment Summit in Berlin.

The two leaders agreed on the importance of directing investment in Africa, appreciating its competitiveness. Chancellor Scholz praised Kenya's role in capacity building and supporting the upcoming elections in the DRC, Congo, and South Sudan.

The German Chancellor promised to help Kenya in the mission to Haiti. President Ruto has sought support from Chancellor Scholz for Germany to advocate for reforms in the international financial system to address the debt crisis affecting the Global South.
