Wajir : Helicopter carrying MCA crashes at Airport

A helicopter carrying Arabajahan MCA Abey Jimaale crashed on the Wajir runway on Monday while taking off.
Police said the Prime Aviation helicopter, named 5Y-SDL, was operated by Captain Kiroken and Captain James Ndirangu.
Ndirangu sustained injuries to his shoulder and right hand, while Kiroken suffered a head injury in the midday accident.
Abey suffered a head injury. "They were taken to Wajir County Referral Hospital, where they are being treated, and sent to Nairobi for further treatment when they are in good condition," a police statement said. Wajir Airport Police.
According to the police, the plane was badly damaged, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident.
The accident happened a few hours before the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) helicopter crashed and took off. The plane was delivering food to flood-affected families in Buna town, Wajir North. Abdia Manya, Wajir County Red Cross Coordinator, said several people, including pilots and teachers, were injured and taken to Buna Hospital.
