Police in Vihiga County have arrested a man believed to be linked to gang activities in the Esirulo area. The operation was conducted by officers from Emuhaya Police Station during a routine patrol at around 2:30 am on Friday, September 26, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS) on Saturday, the suspect was intercepted while armed with a machete. A subsequent raid on his residence in Ikaliha Village led to the recovery of several items suspected to be stolen. Among the exhibits were four machetes, a sword, a kitchen knife, two balaclavas, military boots, a gas cylinder, school set books, and a Sony radio.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting processing and arraignment, while the recovered items have been secured as evidence.
Commending the officers for their diligence, the NPS reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime, noting that the crackdown on gangs will continue nationwide.
“We commend our officers for their commitment to serving and protecting the public. These operations to dismantle criminal gangs will continue countrywide,” the service said.
The police further urged the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest station or through the available toll-free hotlines.
