Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has pledged to champion peace and unity as he throws his weight behind businessman Philip Aroko in the Kasipul constituency by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.
Salasya, speaking through his official X account on Wednesday, October 1, said his support for Aroko would be anchored on positive messaging rather than divisive politics. He noted that his campaign efforts in Kasipul would focus on sharing his development record in Mumias East as an example of what dedicated leadership can achieve.
Aroko will face Boyd Were, the son of the late Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, who is contesting on an ODM ticket.
“One of the keynote statements we have agreed on as I come to Kasipul will be to preach peace and unity of the people,” Salasya said. “I will not bring national politics of division, but I will show how I have transformed Mumias East in three years and how I will support Hon. Aroko as he takes over as MP.”
The first-term legislator emphasized that he would steer clear of Homa Bay or Nyanza regional politics, insisting his role would be limited to endorsing Aroko and advocating unity among residents.
Salasya also praised Aroko as a composed and focused leader, thanking his supporters for connecting them. He revealed that the two would soon hit the campaign trail together in Oyugis and across Kasipul.
The Kasipul by-election is expected to draw significant attention as local and national leaders line up behind their preferred candidates.
