One person has died while three others were rescued following the collapse of a three-storey building in Chesanga village, Kipchebor Ward, Kericho County.
Kericho County Commissioner Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru confirmed the incident, stating that all relevant government agencies were on site assisting in the rescue operations.
The rescue effort was led by Kericho County CECM for Public Service Jonathan Korir, who coordinated emergency responders and volunteers to extract survivors from the rubble.
Local authorities reported that the collapse occurred earlier in the day, prompting immediate emergency response. The three survivors were rescued and transported to nearby health facilities for treatment, while the body of the deceased was recovered during the operation.
The cause of the building collapse has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing. Officials have called on developers to strictly adhere to construction standards to prevent similar tragedies.
