The prime suspect in the murder of Moi University student Sheryl Ohanga, Cliff Ocharo, appeared before the Nyamira Law Court on Tuesday, where investigators sought additional time to finalize their inquiries into the case.
Presiding Magistrate Beryl Achieng ordered that the suspect be detained at Nyamira Police Station for four days to allow for a mental assessment and the completion of a post-mortem examination on the victim.
Ocharo was not required to take a plea during the brief court session. The case is scheduled for mention on Friday, October 17, when he is expected to formally face murder charges.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for swift justice for the slain student as police continue their investigations.
