A light-hearted exchange between Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has amused Kenyans online after Mosiria humorously called out the legislator over complaints about his noisy dogs.

In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Mosiria revealed that he had met his “good friend” Hon. Salasya earlier in the day and seized the opportunity to address concerns raised by residents about the MP’s pets.

“I bumped into my good friend, Hon. Peter Salasya, earlier today, and as young leaders, we had a great chat about life and leadership. Mbele iko sawa!” Mosiria wrote.

The ‘Village-Trained’ Dogs Stir Up Trouble

The County Environment Chief Officer noted that several neighbours had complained about the MP’s dogs — particularly one mischievous canine named Bosco, whom he jokingly described as the “ringleader.”

“I reminded him that neighbours have been filing complaints about his village-trained dogs, especially their notorious ring leader, Bosco. Apparently, those furry comrades never miss a party and spend the whole night barking at anything that moves — humans, cars, even shadows!” Mosiria said.

According to Mosiria, the dogs have become something of a night-time nuisance, keeping nearby residents awake with their constant barking. However, he emphasized that the matter was raised in good humour, underscoring the need for responsible pet ownership in urban areas.

Salasya Promises to Act

In his response, Mosiria said the MP took the concerns positively and promised to act promptly.

“Hon. Salasya, being the responsible leader he is, promised to get them a proper trainer to teach them some ‘Nairobi manners’ before I get another complaint,” Mosiria added.

Social Media Reactions

The playful exchange quickly went viral, drawing laughter and praise from social media users who appreciated the leaders’ humorous and relatable approach to addressing community concerns.

Many Kenyans commended both officials for turning a neighbourhood nuisance into a teachable and light-hearted moment, while also highlighting a real issue urban noise pollution caused by domestic animals.

Ongoing Efforts Against Noise Pollution

The Nairobi County Environment Department has recently intensified efforts to curb noise pollution in the city. The initiative encourages residents to maintain community peace by adhering to the county’s noise control regulations, including managing pets and sound systems responsibly.
