Media personality Willis Raburu has shared an emotional account of his journey through grief after the heartbreaking loss of his daughter, Adana, describing it as the darkest and most painful experience of his life.
In a candid conversation with Alex Mwakideu aired on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Raburu recounted the harrowing moments in the delivery room as he witnessed his partner give birth to their stillborn child.
“That was the lowest moment in my entire life. I was in the room when she was pushing, holding the baby after and calling her name—but there was no sound,” he said.
The veteran journalist said the experience shattered him completely, leaving him feeling hopeless and emotionally drained.
“I don’t think anything will ever reach that. That was my lowest. I lost hope in everything,” he added.
Lingering Pain and Emotional Triggers
Raburu revealed that even years later, the trauma still lingers. Everyday sights and sounds often bring back painful memories.
“Even walking past a supermarket fridge would trigger me because I’d remember the cold room,” he said, describing how grief would resurface unexpectedly.
At the time, he continued working on his popular TV show, 10/10, masking his pain behind a public smile.
“I used to park my car, cry, then go host the show with my shades on. After the show, I’d go back to my car and cry again before heading home to drink, trying to forget,” he shared.
Silent Struggle and Therapy
Raburu admitted that the loss pushed him to the brink, revealing that he once contemplated ending his life as a way to reunite with his daughter.
“I reached a point where I wanted to end my life. I thought the only way to see her again was to join her. My therapists even had to call my office because they were concerned,” he disclosed.
Through therapy and support from loved ones, Raburu said he has learned to cope with the pain, though it remains a deeply personal and life-altering experience.
Baby Adana was pronounced dead at birth on December 31, 2019, a loss that continues to shape Raburu’s outlook on life, love, and healing.
