A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer attached to the 10 Engineers Barracks in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, has been arrested for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl within the military facility.
According to a police report, the suspect, identified as Sergeant Paul Muriungi Muteria, is accused of committing the offence inside the barracks, which serves as the headquarters of the 10 Engineers Battalion, a unit under the Kenya Army Corps of Engineers.
Authorities confirmed that Sgt. Muteria is currently being held at the Nanyuki Police Station and will be arraigned in court today, Monday, to face charges related to the incident.
Law enforcement agencies have launched investigations into the matter as calls grow for accountability and justice for the victim.
