The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced the appointment of twenty-three new Assistant Directors, in what marks a significant expansion and strengthening of its senior leadership structure.
In a statement released on Friday, October 31, 2025, the SHA Board confirmed that the appointments followed a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025.
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of twenty-three new Assistant Directors. These significant appointments follow a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on 29th July 2025,” the statement read.
Key Appointments Across Core Departments
The newly appointed Assistant Directors will serve across various critical departments, including Legal Services, Registration and Compliance, Supply Chain Management, Planning and Linkages, Benefits Management, Fund Management, Finance and Accounts, Administration, Human Resource Management and Development, Customer Experience, ICT, Provider Management, and Internal Audit.

- Legal Services: Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba
- Registration and Compliance (County Coordination): Adow Osman Ahmed
- Supply Chain Management: Moindi Kevin Omai
- Planning and Linkages: Douglas Odhiambo Owino, Beatrice Chelangat Kimalel
- Benefits Management: Mercy Kamene Mutua, James Leiro Letangule
- Fund Management: Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa, Samira Swaleh
- Finance and Accounts: Irene Jepngetich Rono, Mohamed Elmi
- Administration: Callista Kendi Omwenga, Timothy Musyoka Malusi
- Human Resource Management and Development: Khadija Ali Juma, Maureen Cherwon
- Customer Experience: Brian Muriithi Mugambi
- ICT: Julius Kiamba Muli
- Registration and Compliance: Fardosa Abdi Ali, Gilbert Mogambi Osoro
- Provider Management: Julia Ouko
- Internal Audit: James Tama Musyoka, Irene Akinyi Ng’ong’a, and Samson Nthei Mutuku
Strengthening Operational Capacity
According to the SHA Board, these appointments are intended to enhance the Authority’s operational capacity across all directorates as it works toward delivering its core mandate—to provide comprehensive financial risk protection and ensure universal access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
“These new leaders are crucial for enhancing operational capacity across all Directorates as SHA scales up to achieve its core mandate of providing financial risk protection and quality healthcare access for all Kenyan residents,” the statement added.
Board Commends Staff for Support During Transition
SHA Board Chairperson Dr. Abdi Mohamed lauded the Authority’s staff for their commitment and cooperation during the interim management period, describing their dedication as vital to ensuring a smooth transition.
“The Board extends its deep appreciation to all dedicated staff for their unwavering support and commitment to the interim senior management team throughout this critical transition period,” Dr. Mohamed said.
The appointments come as SHA continues to operationalize its mandate under the government’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda, aimed at transforming Kenya’s healthcare financing and access landscape.
