Inspector-General of the National Police Service (NPS), Douglas Kanja, visited Kiamariga Police Station in Nyeri County on Friday, November 14, 2025, to assess the aftermath of a recent fire that caused significant damage, the NPS confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

The blaze destroyed key areas of the station, including the armoury and records office. Authorities credited the Nyeri County Government Fire Brigade, supported by police officers and local residents, for successfully containing the fire.

During his visit, IG Kanja expressed solidarity with the affected officers and assured them that repairs to the damaged facilities would be carried out promptly. “He expressed his solidarity with the personnel affected by the incident and assured them that the damaged buildings would be repaired promptly,” the NPS said.

The police chief also commended the swift collaboration between officers and the local community, describing it as a strong reflection of effective community-police relations. He encouraged officers to continue embracing community policing as a key strategy for crime prevention.

Additionally, IG Kanja thanked the personnel for maintaining professionalism and dedication despite the setback and urged them to uphold fairness and firmness while adhering to the rule of law.
