A Muslim cleric, Eid Ali, has pleaded guilty to eight counts of committing indecent acts against seven children aged between five and 14 years.The accused appeared before Principal Magistrate Sandra Ogot at the Othaya Law Courts on Tuesday, where he admitted to all the charges.
According to the prosecution, the offences were committed on diverse dates between 2022 and 2025. The cleric also pleaded guilty to abusing the trust placed in him by the minors, with the offences allegedly taking place inside the Othaya Muslim mosque during Madrassa lessons.
The court was informed that the State was not ready to present the facts of the case at the time of plea.
“The accused person has pleaded guilty on all the counts presented before the court. The facts are not ready as indicated by the State and the same shall be read on March 10, 2026,” Magistrate Ogot said.
The matter will be mentioned next week for the reading of facts and further directions by the court.
