A woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire at the luxury Los Angeles residence of global music star Rihanna, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
Prosecutors in Los Angeles said Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, allegedly carried out the shooting on Sunday at the sprawling property where Rihanna lives with rapper A$AP Rocky and their three children.
Shooting at the Property
Aerial footage captured after the incident showed multiple bullet holes in the estate’s front gate, indicating several rounds were fired toward the property.
Police reports indicate that an AR-15-style rifle was allegedly used during the attack, which occurred in broad daylight while Rihanna was reportedly inside the residence.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Suspect Faces Multiple Charges
Ortiz has been charged with a series of serious offences, including:
- One count of attempted murder
- Ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm
- Two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling
- One count of shooting at an inhabited vehicle
A judge ordered that Ortiz be held on $1.875 million bail and issued a strict order prohibiting any contact with Rihanna.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 25.
Online Posts Referencing Celebrities
According to entertainment outlet TMZ, Ortiz has previously been involuntarily committed and had lost custody of her child in the past.
A Facebook account believed to belong to Ortiz reportedly contains several posts and videos referencing high-profile celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Cardi B.
In one post tagging Rihanna, the suspect allegedly challenged the singer to “say something to me directly instead of sneaking around.” Another video reportedly claimed that Rihanna wanted to harm her.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed a motive for the shooting.
Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and the suspect’s activities leading up to the incident.
The case has drawn widespread attention due to Rihanna’s global profile and the severity of the allegations, raising renewed concerns about celebrity security and stalking-related threats in the entertainment industry.
