DP Kindiki Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Inclusive Development During Kisumu Visit

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering equitable development across all regions of Kenya, emphasizing unity and non-discrimination in national growth efforts. Speaking during the Muhoroni Economic Empowerment event held at Midika Grounds in Kisumu County, Prof. Kindiki underscored the inclusive vision of the broad-based government led by President William Ruto.

Highlighting the ongoing cooperation between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the Deputy President praised Mr. Odinga for prioritizing national unity over personal political ambitions. “We respect Raila for setting aside his interests for the good of the nation. He is playing a key role in ensuring every Kenyan benefits from government development programs,” Kindiki said.

The Deputy President outlined several initiatives already underway in the Nyanza region as part of this inclusive development agenda. These include:

  • Revival of sugar factories such as Muhoroni, Sony, and Chemelil under public-private partnerships.
  • Ongoing construction of the 52-kilometre Mamboleo-Miwani-Muhoroni-Chemelil Road.
  • Expansion of electricity access and affordable housing projects, including units at Lumumba Estate and student hostels at Kisumu National Polytechnic, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga KMTC, and Muhoroni Technical Institute.
  • Development of 17 modern markets across Kisumu County.
  • Support for fishermen through construction of fish landing sites and empowerment of beach management units.

Prof. Kindiki emphasized that development under President Ruto’s leadership is intended for all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliation or regional background. “No government is elected to serve a community or a section of the country. It serves all Kenyans equally,” he asserted.

The Deputy President also lauded residents for registering in large numbers for the SHA universal health coverage program, assuring them of the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems.

Looking ahead, Prof. Kindiki called for two full terms of the current administration to complete ongoing development programs and reforms. “Two terms to revive sugar factories, enhance healthcare, expand infrastructure, and deliver affordable housing,” he noted.

The event drew a high-profile delegation of national and local leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, and numerous Members of Parliament and Senators, signaling strong bipartisan support for the government’s development agenda.

As preparations intensify for upcoming national projects, the message from Muhoroni was clear: inclusive development remains at the heart of the government’s long-term vision for a united and prosperous Kenya.
