Fuel Prices Surge in Kenya as EPRA Announces New Adjustments

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced an increase in fuel prices across Kenya, effective from July 15 to August 14, 2025. This upward adjustment reflects a rise in the global landed cost of petroleum products.

According to the latest review:

  • Super petrol will increase by Ksh.8.99, bringing the cost per litre in Nairobi to Ksh.186.31
  • Diesel is up by Ksh.8.67, now retailing at Ksh.171.58
  • Kerosene sees the largest hike at Ksh.9.65, with a new price of Ksh.156.58

Regional Prices:

  • In Mombasa, motorists will pay Ksh.183.02 for petrol, Ksh.168.30 for diesel, and Ksh.153.29 for kerosene.
  • In Kisumu, the prices are Ksh.186.15 for petrol, Ksh.171.78 for diesel, and Ksh.156.83 for kerosene.

EPRA attributed the price hikes to an increase in international petroleum costs. The average landed cost of imported fuel rose sharply between May and June 2025:

  • Super petrol: up by 6.45%
  • Diesel: up by 6.27%
  • Kerosene: up by 6.95%

EPRA Director-General Daniel Bargoria noted that these changes are in line with prevailing global market trends, which continue to influence local pump prices.

Kenyans are advised to plan accordingly as the new fuel rates take effect nationwide.
