The government has launched a substantial investment drive in Kiambu County, committing over Sh70 billion towards infrastructure, housing, and modern market developments aimed at transforming the region’s socio-economic landscape.
Speaking during the Kiambaa Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement at Gachie Primary Grounds, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki emphasized the administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones that will directly benefit residents. He urged citizens to remain focused on development and avoid divisive political rhetoric.
“When campaign time comes, we’ll present our scorecard — a clear record of what we’ve delivered in Kiambu and beyond,” said Kindiki. “Now is the time for work, not politics.”
Key Projects in Progress:
- Road Infrastructure: The Karura-Gachie-Gacharage Road is nearing completion, set to improve connectivity in the area.
- Education & Training:
- A new Kiambaa KMTC Campus, valued at Sh200 million, is under construction, including affordable student hostels.
- Wangunyi Technical Training Institute has secured Sh70 million for construction, plus an additional Sh281 million for hostel facilities.
- Affordable Housing:
- 17 affordable housing projects are ongoing across Kiambu.
- 15 institutional housing units are being built for police and technical staff.
- Modern Markets:
- 26 modern markets are under development in the county, with three located in Kiambaa constituency.
Deputy President Kindiki also defended the ongoing economic empowerment forums, noting that they are focused on bolstering the capital base of youth, women, and small-scale traders without political strings attached.
“We cannot wait for campaign season to support mama mboga. This is a genuine effort to uplift grassroots entrepreneurs,” he affirmed.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Kindiki called for political maturity, reminding citizens that politics should be a contest of ideas — not a cause for enmity.
“Serve the people if elected. If not, wait for the next round and try again,” he advised.
The development agenda in Kiambu signals the government’s broader commitment to delivering tangible improvements while maintaining political stability and economic inclusivity.
