Judiciary Urges Email Filing Amid Persistent e-Filing System Outages

The Kenyan Judiciary has urged litigants and legal practitioners to file urgent and time-sensitive matters via email as the e-Filing system continues to experience disruptions following external interference that began on July 10.

In an official statement released on Monday, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Winfridah Mokaya acknowledged the outages affecting critical digital services, including the eFiling platform and the Cause List portal. While partial restoration occurred on Sunday, July 13, fresh interruptions on Monday prompted the Judiciary to provide alternative filing options to maintain service continuity.

“As of July 14 at 11:00 AM, the Causelist Portal is fully accessible via causelist.court.go.ke,” the Judiciary stated. “However, the eFiling System continues to experience intermittent outages. Our technical team is actively addressing the issue and working to restore full functionality.”

To minimize disruption, court users have been instructed to send urgent applications directly to the relevant court station and copy both registrarautomation@court.go.ke and registrarautomation@gmail.com. Those experiencing technical difficulties are encouraged to contact ictdirectorate@court.go.ke for support.

Since the onset of the disruption, the Judiciary has received and is processing 282 urgent applications and 2,256 criminal cases through these alternative channels.

Mokaya reaffirmed the Judiciary’s commitment to justice delivery, emphasizing ongoing efforts to stabilize the system. “We remain committed to ensuring uninterrupted access to justice and thank all court users for their continued patience, cooperation, and understanding,” she said.

The Judiciary continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as technical teams work toward full restoration of services.
