Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has firmly defended the Kenya Kwanza administration against rising opposition criticism, terming it “empty rhetoric” aimed at derailing the government’s transformative agenda. Speaking during an economic empowerment event in Tharaka Nithi County, Mudavadi reiterated that the Ruto-led administration remains focused on delivering long-term national development through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
He dismissed allegations that the government is operating in fear of the 2027 General Election, emphasizing that Kenya is committed to holding credible, peaceful, and lawful elections. “We are not afraid of elections,” Mudavadi said, assuring Kenyans and the global community that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), now fully constituted, will ensure free and fair elections.
The Prime CS lauded the parliamentary vetting process that confirmed the new IEBC commissioners, calling it a major step forward after delays caused by legal and political hurdles. He credited the leadership of Tharaka MP George Murugara and his committee for steering the vetting process successfully.
Addressing critics who claim little is being achieved under Kenya Kwanza, Mudavadi said such narratives are misleading and do not reflect the reality on the ground. He stated that development projects are ongoing, guided by the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, which aligns with Article 43 of the Constitution. This article guarantees Kenyans access to essential social and economic rights, including healthcare, housing, food, and education.
On the housing program, Mudavadi defended President Ruto’s commitment to providing affordable housing, saying past regimes shied away from implementing it. “President Ruto is making difficult but necessary decisions, not for political gain, but because the Constitution demands it and Kenyans deserve it,” he affirmed.
Mudavadi also acknowledged the challenges facing the health sector but assured citizens that the government is committed to resolving them through collaborative efforts. “Victory will not just be political—it will be when Kenyans have better services, improved food security, and quality healthcare,” he said.
He concluded by urging residents of Tharaka Nithi and all Kenyans to unite and support the government’s agenda. He praised Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki as a capable and focused leader, noting his professionalism and commitment to national service.
The Prime CS emphasized that national transformation requires patience, collaboration, and unwavering focus, which he said the current administration is committed to delivering.
