The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has taken a significant step in advancing its international relations agenda through a high-level diplomatic engagement with Russia’s ruling party, United Russia Party (URP), in Moscow. The meeting, held at the URP headquarters, was led by ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi and aimed at fostering political cooperation and sharing experiences on democratic governance.
The ODM delegation was hosted by senior URP official Andrey Klimov, who also serves as Deputy Chairperson of the Russian Federal Council’s Committee on Foreign Relations. The dialogue was framed around “political party diplomacy,” a strategic pillar of ODM’s broader foreign policy outreach.
Osotsi conveyed a goodwill message from ODM leader Raila Odinga, reaffirming the party’s commitment to global collaboration. “We discussed ways our two parties can work together and share experiences to strengthen democracy and governance,” Osotsi stated.
Other key figures in the ODM delegation included Siaya Senator and ODM party trustee Dr. Oburu Odinga, Rarieda MP and ODM Vice Chairperson Otiende Amollo, and Kitengela MCA Paul Matuyia.
The engagement took place alongside a broader official visit by Kenyan lawmakers to Russia. ODM emphasized that such international exchanges are integral to positioning the party—and by extension, Kenya—on the global stage, and building alliances that can bolster democratic progress and international partnerships.
