In a decisive security operation, police officers in Kwale County have arrested several suspected members of a notorious criminal gang during a targeted raid in the Ngeneni area of Lunga Lunga Township. The operation, conducted on August 1, followed a public tip-off and was led by officers from Lunga Lunga Police Station.
According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects are believed to be responsible for a string of serious crimes in the region, including murder and armed robbery. One of the arrested individuals is a key suspect with an active warrant for murder.
Officers raided a single-room house where the suspects were found armed with machetes and reportedly smoking cannabis. A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of approximately 257 grams of cannabis sativa and a motorcycle with Tanzanian registration plates, suspected to have been used in cross-border criminal activity.
All suspects were taken into custody and are awaiting formal arraignment. The NPS commended members of the public for their role in the operation and emphasized that investigations are ongoing, with additional arrests likely.
This operation is part of broader efforts by law enforcement to dismantle organized criminal networks in Kenya’s coastal and border regions.
