Santi Cazorla Extends Fairytale Return with Real Oviedo

Former Arsenal maestro Santi Cazorla has signed a one-year contract extension with Real Oviedo, the club confirmed on Saturday. The move ensures the 39-year-old midfield legend will remain with the newly-promoted La Liga side for the 2025/26 season.

Cazorla, who rejoined his boyhood club in August 2023, played a pivotal role in guiding Oviedo back to Spain’s top flight after a 24-year absence. His leadership and experience have been instrumental both on and off the pitch.

A two-time European champion with Spain (2008 and 2012) and a double FA Cup winner with Arsenal, Cazorla’s glittering career adds prestige and depth to the Asturian club’s ambitions.

“With this renewal, Santi Cazorla, a symbol and emblem of Oviedo, proves that dreams, when pursued with the heart, come true,” the club said in a heartfelt statement.

Cazorla turns 41 in December, but his enduring quality and commitment continue to inspire a generation, proving age is no barrier when passion and purpose align.
