In a major show of solidarity and support, Morocco’s Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency has pledged funding for a new agricultural empowerment project targeting Palestinian farmers in the Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Governorate. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture in Ramallah, comes at a crucial time as local farmers face growing economic hardships and mounting pressure from the expansion of illegal settlements.
The newly signed agreement aims to support 250 farmers in its first phase through three essential interventions: the distribution of seedlings, provision of water tanks and transport cisterns, and supply of veterinary kits to bolster livestock care. These tools are expected to significantly improve agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.
Palestinian Minister of Agriculture, Rizk Salmiya, extended his heartfelt appreciation to Morocco, praising the North African nation’s consistent backing of the Palestinian cause. “Their presence on the ground in solidarity with the Palestinian people is deeply appreciated,” said Salmiya. He also commended Morocco’s ongoing humanitarian interventions, including recent food aid efforts in the Gaza Strip.
As part of the initiative’s rollout, Moroccan and Palestinian officials toured agricultural projects and a local sheep farm, emphasizing the importance of hands-on support and field engagement.
This initiative is part of a broader series of socio-economic programmes implemented by Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency to assist various sectors of the Al-Quds population. With international backing and localized action, projects like this provide a vital lifeline for farmers striving to maintain their livelihoods and safeguard ancestral lands in the face of increasing challenges.
