Suspected Livestock Thief Seriously Injured in Uasin Gishu Mob Attack

A man sustained serious injuries on Sunday in the Drys area of Ainapkoi, Uasin Gishu County, after being attacked by residents who accused him of livestock theft. The incident, which has raised fresh concerns over rising cases of mob justice, saw the suspect’s vehicle — a Toyota Probox — set ablaze by the irate crowd.

According to reports, the man was believed to be part of a gang allegedly involved in the theft of goats in the area. Two other individuals who were with him at the time were rescued by police officers and are currently in custody to aid in investigations.

Ainapkoi Sub-County Police Commander Stephen Kimunya confirmed the incident and stated that the injured suspect is undergoing treatment at Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital. He further appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies for proper legal action.

Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the suspects’ involvement in the alleged livestock thefts.
