Tragic IED Explosion Claims Lives of KDF Soldiers in Lamu

A devastating Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Lamu County has claimed the lives of three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers and left seven others injured. The incident occurred in the Badaah area along the Kiunga-Sankuri road.

According to Lamu East Deputy County Commissioner George Kubai, the soldiers were returning from a mission to transport their colleagues to Sankuri when their vehicle struck the IED near Kiunga. The injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment at Kiunga hospital.

In response to the attack, a major security operation has been launched to apprehend those behind the deadly act. Local residents have voiced growing concerns over rising insecurity in the region, citing fears of terrorist activity.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to restoring peace and protecting communities in Lamu, an area that has witnessed periodic threats from suspected militant groups.
