A total of 270,000 candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have scored a C+ grade and above, qualifying for direct entry to university.

President William Ruto disclosed the figures after being briefed on the examination outcomes by Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba. The successful candidates represent 27 per cent of the 993,000 students who sat the national examinations in 2025.

According to the President, 1,932 candidates achieved grade A, marking the highest-performing cohort in the examinations. He noted that half of the candidates were girls, underscoring continued progress in gender parity in secondary education.

“At Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, I was briefed on the release of the 2025 KCSE examinations, which are scheduled to be released today,” President Ruto said in a statement shared on X.

The Ministry of Education is expected to officially release the results later today at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret.

The 2025 KCSE examinations were administered between October 21 and November 21, 2025, with oral and practical assessments conducted ahead of the written theory papers.

The Education Ministry also reported a decline in examination irregularities, with 418 candidates implicated in malpractices, down from 614 cases recorded in 2024. This reduction reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen examination integrity.
