Telecommunications leader Safaricom has announced the temporary closure of several of its retail outlets nationwide to accommodate an internal staff event scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025.
In a notice released on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the company advised customers to plan ahead, as the closure will affect major outlets in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, as well as key towns in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern, and North-Eastern regions.
“Dear Customers, please note that our Safaricom Shops in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Embu, Maua, Meru, and Garissa will be closed on Thursday, 9th October 2025, for an internal staff event,” the notice read in part.
Early Closures and Alternative Support
According to the statement, shops in the affected regions will close earlier than usual on Wednesday, October 8, starting from 11:30 a.m., to allow preparations for the internal event.
To minimize inconvenience, Safaricom has encouraged customers to use its Zuri Chatbot, available across all digital platforms, or contact the Safaricom Contact Centre, which will remain operational throughout the period.
For customers requiring in-person support, the company has directed them to authorized dealer outlets near the closed shops, which will continue providing selected services.
Customer Advisory
Safaricom has urged customers to complete all in-store transactions and inquiries before the early closure, noting that normal business operations will resume on Friday, October 10, 2025.
While the company did not disclose details of the internal event, it expressed appreciation to customers for their understanding.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their patience and support during this brief disruption,” Safaricom stated.
