Popular TV and radio presenter Azeezah Hashim has opened up about her humble beginnings in the media industry, sharing how she worked tirelessly often without pay to build her career and earn recognition.
Speaking during an interview on a local podcast on October 12, 2025, Azeezah revealed that her journey to success was marked by perseverance, passion, and self-sacrifice. She recounted taking on numerous unpaid gigs early in her career, even using her own salary to pay others working alongside her on set.
“There are a lot of jobs I did for free. I just wanted the opportunity. I would use my own money to pay dancers, security, and videographers, and end up with nothing. Sometimes I even walked to work. But I kept believing that one day, someone would notice,” she shared.
A Gradual Rise to Success
Now one of Kenya’s most dynamic young media personalities, Azeezah said her rise has been a long and deliberate process, built on hard work and faith in her craft.
“It’s been eight years. I took the stairs, not the lift. It’s taken time, but I’m proud of the process,” she said, reflecting on her journey.
Azeezah urged young women pursuing careers in competitive fields such as media and entertainment to stay grounded, patient, and authentic rather than comparing themselves to others on social media.
“Baby girls out there, we should normalise telling the truth. Sometimes, the longer route is okay. When your time comes, it will be worth it. Don’t let social media pressure you into comparisons,” she advised.
Addressing Dating Rumors
Her comments come weeks after Azeezah addressed rumours linking her romantically to a government official, clarifying that the claims were unfounded.
During an Instagram Live session on September 21, 2025, the media personality set the record straight, explaining that although she has a parent serving in government, she is not dating anyone in politics.
“I have a parent in government, but me dating someone in government? That’s not true. I’m not dating anybody. Right now, I barely have time I was shooting in Uganda till late last night. I’m focused on work,” she said.
Azeezah emphasized that her demanding schedule leaves little room for a personal life, noting that she is currently prioritizing her career growth and creative projects.
