As the festive season approaches, Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia has called on residents to exercise responsibility and caution during the celebrations to prevent incidents that often mar year-end festivities.

Speaking on Thursday, Lotiatia emphasized the importance of moderation, particularly in alcohol consumption, and urged motorists to remain vigilant on the roads amid increased traffic during the holidays.

He reminded residents that the festive season should be a period of joy, peace, and togetherness, not one overshadowed by recklessness or tragedy. “Let us look out for one another and make responsible choices that promote safety and unity,” he said.

Addressing broader social concerns, the County Commissioner urged parents and guardians to remain alert and protect their children especially girls from early pregnancies, which tend to rise during the long school break.

Lotiatia also warned residents in the Transmara region to be cautious following reports of a fraudulent cholera vaccination campaign. He advised locals to seek treatment and vaccinations only from authorized health facilities and to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a health officer.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining public safety throughout the festive period, Lotiatia called for strong collaboration between citizens and security agencies to prevent crime, curb road accidents, and safeguard vulnerable members of the community.
