A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 16-year-old nephew in Tuum Location, Samburu North Sub-County.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that Daniel Tanapua allegedly shared an evening meal with the minor when a domestic dispute quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the teenager’s death.
Officers from Baragoi Police Station found the boy’s body lifeless in a pool of blood, while Tanapua was initially at large, triggering a manhunt. He was later apprehended at his hideout attempting to wash blood-stained clothes, reportedly in an effort to destroy evidence.
A blood-stained Somali sword, believed to have been used in the attack, was also recovered by authorities. The teenager’s body has been taken to Baragoi Sub-County Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Tanapua remains in police custody pending arraignment as investigations continue.
