Aarab music icon Khadija Kopa, the mother of Tanzanian songstress Zuchu, has expressed concern that she has not yet been formally introduced to the family of Diamond Platnumz, despite her daughter having married the celebrated musician several months ago.
Speaking during an interview with a local Bongo radio station on Friday, February 27, 2026, Kopa attributed the delay to the private and unconventional nature of Diamond and Zuchu’s marriage, which she said was conducted quietly and away from public scrutiny. As a result, the customary cultural process of formally uniting the two families has yet to take place.
“We haven’t communicated because Diamond has not yet arranged for us to meet, even after he married Zuchu. Their marriage was not the usual one and was kept private. Because of that, both families the in-laws have not been formally introduced,” Kopa explained.
She clarified that while she and Diamond’s mother, Mama Dangote, are aware of each other, they do not have a direct relationship or communication channel. According to Kopa, each parent currently focuses only on matters concerning their own child.
“In our culture, a formal introduction usually involves a gathering and sharing a meal. Right now, it’s not possible for me to just visit Diamond’s mother on my own. That responsibility lies with Diamond as the husband and son,” she said.
Kopa added that organizing such a meeting requires time and coordination, as both families have busy schedules and personal commitments. She expressed confidence, however, that the introduction will eventually take place at the appropriate time.
“I know it will happen one day. You cannot rush people to meet immediately when everyone has their own responsibilities. The right time will come,” she noted.
She was keen to dispel any speculation of tension between the two families, emphasizing that relations remain cordial and respectful.
“There is no problem at all between us. We are on good terms and there is no animosity. Once we are formally introduced, perhaps then interactions will become more frequent and active,” Kopa said.
Her remarks have sparked discussion among fans and cultural commentators, highlighting the continued importance of traditional family customs even among high-profile celebrity unions.
