Fans of Ariana Grande are calling for decisive action against a man who breached security to grab the singer during the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore on Thursday.

Video footage from the event shows Australian national Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast made their way down the yellow carpet. Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly intervened, pulling the shocked actress away, while security escorted Wen from the venue.

Wen later posted on Instagram claiming he was “free after being arrested,” though court documents indicate he was scheduled to appear in court Friday. It remains unclear if charges have been filed.

This is reportedly not Wen’s first high-profile intrusion. His social media contains clips of similar incidents, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry’s Sydney concert in June and disrupting a Chainsmokers performance in December.

Fans reacted strongly online, urging authorities to take legal action and, in some cases, to deport Wen. “There needs to be action [taken] against him as this is clearly a criminal offence,” wrote one Instagram user. Others highlighted the potential emotional trauma for Grande, referencing her past experiences with post-traumatic stress disorder following the 2017 Manchester concert bombing.

Some fans also criticized event security, calling for stricter measures, and urged social media platforms to remove Wen’s content.

The Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere drew hundreds of fans dressed in green and pink, some waiting in line for up to eight hours. The film, set to release on November 21, continues the story of the unlikely friendship between two witches, adapted from the popular Broadway and West End musical.

Grande, portraying the good witch Glinda, appeared in a champagne pink sequin gown, while Erivo, as the Wicked Witch, wore a black rose-embroidered tube dress. Co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum also attended.

The original Wicked movie, released in 2024, was the UK’s highest-grossing film of the year, earning 10 Oscar nominations and winning two awards for Best Costume and Production Design.
