Ticket sales for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games have surpassed 6 million, organisers announced Friday, highlighting strong global demand for an event expected to be one of the biggest sporting spectacles in history.

LA28 said most of the tickets made available during its first two public sales rounds have already been sold. The Games will feature a record 353 medal events, compared with 329 at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Next Ticket Sale Set for 2027

The next public ticket release will take place in 2027, using a first-come, first-served system and offering additional tickets across all sports, subject to availability.

LA28 said there will be no further public ticket draws during 2026, while an exact date for the 2027 sale has yet to be announced.

Unlike the initial sales rounds, purchase limits will be removed, allowing fans to buy tickets regardless of whether they participated in previous sales. Buyers will need an LA28 ID but will not be required to enter a draw.

The 2027 phase will also mark the first public release of Paralympic tickets and the launch of an official ticket resale programme.

New Sports and Returning Events

The Los Angeles Games will introduce flag football and squash as Olympic sports for the first time.

Baseball and softball, cricket and lacrosse will also return to the Olympic programme after being absent from previous Games.

The Olympics are scheduled to begin in less than two years, with Los Angeles preparing to welcome athletes and spectators from around the world.

Los Angeles Builds Toward 2028

Los Angeles was awarded the 2028 Olympics in 2017, giving organisers an unusually long preparation period to secure sponsorships, develop infrastructure and build anticipation around ticket sales.

LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman said the strong response from the first two ticket releases demonstrated the level of global interest in the Games.

“The demand we've seen across both drops is a powerful signal that the world is energized for LA28,” Wasserman said.

Los Angeles will host the Olympics for the third time, having previously staged the Games in 1932 and 1984.

The city will also host the Paralympic Games for the first time, adding another major international sporting event to its 2028 programme.

LA28 has said that official resale will be restricted to authorised channels, including its own secondary marketplace, AXS, Eventim and designated verified resale platforms.
