Lawyer Angela Mulwa, Nelson Masiga Charged Over Ksh.15 Million Range Rover

NAIROBI, Kenya — Lawyer Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga Makaralu have been charged with conspiring to steal a Range Rover Sport valued at Ksh.15 million, allegedly belonging to the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health (AFRIMEB).

The two appeared before a Kenyan court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Two face conspiracy and motor vehicle theft charges

Mulwa and Masiga face a charge of conspiracy to commit a felony, contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code.

The prosecution alleges that the two, together with other individuals who have not been charged, conspired at an unknown date and location within Kenya to steal the vehicle.

They are also charged with stealing a motor vehicle, contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code.

According to the prosecution, the suspects allegedly stole a Range Rover Sport, registration number KDU 799Y, on February 12, 2026, in the Kathangaita area of Mlolongo, Machakos County.

The vehicle is said to have been owned by AFRIMEB and was parked at the homestead of Prof. David Musyimi Ndetei, a director of the institute.

Alternative charge of handling stolen property

The prosecution has also presented an alternative charge of handling stolen property.

Court documents allege that on August 1, 2026, Mulwa and Masiga were found in possession of the same Range Rover at Rose Residential Homes in Karen, Kerarapon 14 West, Nairobi County.

The prosecution alleges that they knew, or had reason to believe, that the vehicle had been stolen.

Separate charge over property damage

The two suspects are also facing a separate charge of malicious damage to property.

The prosecution alleges that on February 12, 2026, at Kathangaita in Mlolongo, Machakos County, Mulwa and Masiga, together with others not before the court, unlawfully damaged a dwelling house belonging to Prof. Ndetei.

The property is estimated to be worth approximately Ksh.56 million.

Court orders pre-bail report

Mulwa and Masiga denied all the charges against them.

The court directed that a pre-bail report be prepared and presented at the next hearing to assist the court in determining the appropriate bail and bond terms.

The two were ordered to remain in custody pending their next court appearance.

The matter will be mentioned on September 9, 2026, when the pre-bail report is expected to be presented and the court will give further directions on bail and bond.

The accused persons remain innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of law.
