Joyce Wairimu Mbugua, mother of the late Betty Bayo, has praised Pastor Victor Kanyari for his integrity and described the strong friendship they share, while addressing ongoing disputes over her daughter’s property and the welfare of her children.

In a Facebook Live session on the evening of Saturday, December 6, 2025, Joyce disclosed that she has been in direct communication with Kanyari regarding the custody of his children, Sky and Danny, who were born to him and Betty Bayo prior to her marriage to Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash. She emphasized that ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children is her primary concern.

“Besides everything I have said about Tash, I want to say that Kanyari is a good man, and we have a very good friendship. With these new developments, I spoke to him recently and asked him to prioritize seeking full custody of his children,” Joyce stated.

At the same time, Joyce directed her concerns toward Tash, alleging mismanagement of aspects of her daughter’s estate and asserting her legal authority over the property. She vowed to personally oversee the recovery of all belongings that rightfully belonged to Betty, reinforcing her position as the only legally recognized next of kin.

“As for Tash, I want him to return all the belongings he currently has that belonged to my daughter, and I will personally oversee that process. You can imagine that when I raised my concerns with him, he told me to take him to court if I wanted to. I think he assumed I didn’t have the power to speak or that I wouldn’t come forward. Now I have, and this is my official statement,” Joyce declared.

Addressing her role in her daughter’s family matters, Joyce revealed that she has often been sidelined and appealed to well-wishers for support in securing the safety of Betty’s children. She expressed concern over the children remaining in the same household as Tash, whom she considers unfit to care for them.

“I am appealing to all well-wishers to support me in this matter because I need Betty’s children to be removed from staying in the same house with Tash,” Joyce added, underlining that her actions are driven by a desire to protect the children and safeguard their future.

The unfolding dispute highlights tensions surrounding the late Betty Bayo’s estate and the ongoing responsibility of Pastor Kanyari to safeguard his children’s interests, while maintaining his relationship with their grandmother.
