Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced a cash reward of Ksh1 million for information leading to the re-arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the notorious Kware murders.

In a statement issued on September 30, 2025, the agency urged the public to come forward with any credible tips on Khalusha’s whereabouts. Information can be shared through the DCI’s toll-free hotline (0800 722 203), WhatsApp (0709 570 000), emergency hotlines 999, 911, 112, or at any police station.

“Every piece of information is valuable,” the DCI emphasized, stressing that even the smallest tip could be critical in tracking down the fugitive.

Escaped Murder Suspect

Khalusha, originally from Vihiga County, is accused of murdering multiple women whose dismembered remains were found at a dumpsite in Kware, Embakasi. Police investigations linked him to the killing of at least 42 women between 2022 and 2024, including his wife. Nine of the victims’ bodies were later discovered in a disused quarry, sparking nationwide outrage.

He was set to face murder charges on August 20, 2024, but escaped custody alongside 12 other suspects from the Gigiri Police Station just hours before his arraignment. The escape led to the suspension of eight officers and the prosecution of five others accused of aiding his flight.

Previous Appeals

This is not the first time the DCI has sought public assistance. In January 2025, a similar appeal was issued on social media, but the fugitive has remained at large for more than a year.

A Nation in Shock

The Kware murders remain one of Kenya’s most disturbing criminal cases, marked by allegations of torture, a disputed confession, and mounting pressure on authorities to ensure justice for the victims.

The DCI is now calling on Kenyans to help ensure Khalusha is brought back into custody, urging the public to report anonymously and promising protection for those who share information.
