The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Kenya has announced that two men have been sentenced to death following their conviction for robbery with violence in Meru County.
Douglas Muriithi and Antony Mugendi were found guilty of attacking a woman on September 6, 2024, in Maua Location, Igembe South Sub-County, in the early hours of the night.
The victims’ property included Ksh5,700 in cash, 87 kilograms of sugar valued at Ksh13,050, and 17 kilograms of onions worth Ksh850, totaling Ksh19,600. The assailants reportedly wielded pangas, metal rods, and timber frames during the attack, causing injuries to the victim.
According to the DPP, the court concluded that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt. Following the conviction, the two men were sentenced to death.
