The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a reduction in the retail prices of super petrol, diesel and kerosene in its latest monthly fuel review, offering modest relief to consumers.

According to EPRA, the price of super petrol has been reduced by Ksh.2 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have each dropped by Ksh.1 per litre.

In Nairobi, a litre of super petrol will now retail at Ksh.182.52, diesel at Ksh.170.47, and kerosene at Ksh.153.78. In Mombasa, motorists will pay Ksh.180.24 for super petrol, Ksh.167.19 for diesel, and Ksh.150.49 for kerosene.

EPRA noted that the revised prices include the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT), in line with the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and adjusted excise duty rates to account for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

The Authority attributed the price reductions to lower average landed costs of imported petroleum products. The landed cost of super petrol declined marginally by 0.10 per cent, from US$592.84 (Ksh.76,446.72) per cubic metre in November 2025 to US$592.24 (Ksh.76,369.35) per cubic metre in December 2025.

Diesel recorded a more significant decrease of 4.20 per cent, falling from US$654.24 (Ksh.84,364.25) to US$626.75 (Ksh.80,819.41) per cubic metre. Kerosene prices dropped by 8.92 per cent, from US$667.05 (Ksh.86,016.10) to US$607.55 (Ksh.78,343.57) per cubic metre over the same period.

The new fuel prices will remain in effect until EPRA’s next monthly review, scheduled for February 14, 2026.
